Lesson Re-learned

What an interesting lecture I have today in physical anthropology class. The lecture was about evolutionary thingy. Evolution means simply change over time, but that's not the spirit which I want to share.
Everybody knows Charles Darwin right? The man who proposed evolution theory; survival of the fittest, natural selection. However, there are at least 8 people who gave Charles Darwin influences regarding to the theory.
I won't write them one by one because It's not that important, but I think Alfred Wallace is the key person before Darwin published his book. Because if only Alfred Wallace had not written a letter to Charles Darwin, stated that he also has the same thinking with him, Charles Darwin would not wrote and publish "The Origin Of Species" and the history might not be the same. We might not know who the hell is Charles Darwin because he definitely had some sort of hesitation to publish his theory. The fact is Charles Darwin was pondered for 22 years (which is very long and time consuming) before he has his masterpiece in public. I mean come on, after 22 years of discovery and observation? Collected tons of data and facts and still had a doubt in what he discovered? Copernicus had been killed by "divine judgment" at his time because of heliocentric theory which he proposed, but the time has proven that he was right. I mean come on Darwin, what took you so long? You would not get killed because you were not living in Copernicus era.

On the other side, I understand that in order to create a novelty, one has to get an approval from the experts in that particular domain in order to get recognition and moral support. Alfred Wallace was one of the experts, but 22 years time just took Charles Darwin so long, and Alfred Wallace could kick Charles Darwin out of the world history book if Charles Darwin still have a doubt in himself.
